Leslie
Morrison is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst currently practicing
in Massachusetts. Leslie received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology
from California State University, Fullerton, CA in 1993 and then

| Leslie
first came into contact with applied behavior analysis (ABA)
in 1994, when she worked as a Research Assistant at a state
hospital in California. Soon after, Leslie attended Graduate
School at the University of Kansas where she worked as an
ABA Therapist and Clinical Team Leader. She also consulted
with various elementary and junior high schools in the Kansas
City area, focusing on socialization skills within the school
environment between fully-included students with autism
and peers within their classrooms. As a result, much of
this research conducted by Leslie and her colleagues has
been published in various journals.

Upon
leaving the University of Kansas, Leslie worked as the Clinical
Director for a nationally-based treatment center. As the Clinical
Director, she created training seminars for parents, therapists,
and professionals who worked with children with developmental
disabilities, organized research projects, and created training
protocols for other consultants and therapists. She also contracted
with the St. Louis School District, where she assessed, implemented
ABA treatment, and trained families, team members, and educators
within both the school and home settings. |

In
1999, Leslie became an independent Behavior Analyst. During
the same year, she received training in teaching language
to her clientele via the Analysis of Verbal Behavior (AVB).
According to B. F. Skinner (Verbal Behavior,
1957), language is a type of behavior that develops because
of reinforcement, motivation, extinction, and punishment
coming from the environment. Skinner demonstrated in his
research that language is a complex set of behaviors that
come together based on conditions in the environment in
which language is learned. Leslie has since incorporated
much of the science of verbal behavior into her therapy
and training. |

Leslie
moved to Arizona in 2001 where she conducted workshops
and provided training to families and those who work with individuals
with autism. She has also taught a course at Arizona State University
(ASU) and worked closely with ASU faculty to provide further educational
opportunities in ABA to the community. She also worked as the Project
Coordinator for the Arizona State Department of Developmental
Disabilities and Northern Arizona University’s Institute
of Human Development, designing a training curriculum in behavior
analysis for autism treatment, conducting pilot training protocols,
developing test competencies and tracking providers who meet those
competencies, as well as working with other professionals to open
up state funding for ABA services at board-certified consultant
levels.
In 2006, Leslie moved to Boston, Massachusetts to complete her PhD in Applied Behavior Analysis at Simmons College. In addition to completing her Doctoral Degree, she also develops on-line coursework in Early Intervention and Behavioral Interventions in Autism for the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center in Waltham, Massachusetts.
