Leslie
believes the key to success in overcoming partial or all developmental
delays lies heavily in the education and support of parents,
educators, and professionals on how to better understand and
change behaviors through careful identification of variables
that affect the child, as well as create a highly reinforcing
and motivating teaching environment so the child learns to enjoy
the process of learning, thus seeking out learning on his or
her own.

Leslie
works closely with families and their teams using the principles
of Behavior Analysis in order to identify delays within separate
skill areas such as language, socialization, and daily living
skills; how to organize targeted skill areas for teaching; how
to teach the targeted skills using errorless teaching procedures;
and how to identify strong motivators to better induce spontaneous
language and close social relationships with families, teachers,
and peers.
Leslie believes in a collaborative approach, working closely
with other professionals who may also be working with the child
and families, such as Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapists,
as well as Educators, and Doctors, so that the most effective
overall treatment can be reached for each individual child.
“We all have pieces of the treatment puzzle to share,
and the more open and sharing of information we are with each
other, the more effective treatment can be, no matter if the
treatment is for a few months, a few years, or the rest of the
child’s life.”
